Laboratory for Particle Properties (Phi-lab) is searching for new physics with precise experiments.
In general, particle physics experiments are conducted to search for high energy scale phenomena with very large facilyty and very high energy beam. However, some high energy process is appeared as subtle effects in low energy scale phenomena. Phi-lab is searching for such effects with precise measurements.
These precise measurements are conducted with neutrons in Phi-lab.
Neutrons have no charge, so neutron experiments can avoid electromagnetic disturbance and are convinient for precise experiments. Moreover, slow neutrons have significant properties as a wave. We can controle the motion of slow neutron with neutron mirrors, which improve neutron experiments. We are making an effort to discover new particle physics with high-intensity-neutron-source and neutroncontrolling devices.
